PHOTO TIPS & SUGGESTIONS

Tips for photographing children (and big kids too!)

  • Get your subject involved in the shoot to make them interested.
  • Make sure you pick a location with either a great backdrop, such as the beach or a garden which shows off the subject to best advantage or keep it neutral.
  • Be quick, so that your subject doesn't lose interest, particularly for children.
  • Be patient - with digital cameras you can easily and quickly take lots of shots until you get the best photo possible.
  • If using a digital camera, have it set to the highest quality possible.
  • Take your photo at the eye level of the subject.
  • Get in close - eye to eye contact will give more depth to their expression and if using a flash, you will get better light coverage on their face.
  • Lock the focus onto the subject, so that you don't end up with a nice crisp image of the tree in background and a blurry child in the foreground.
  • Try some candid shots so you don't always end up with photos of the person looking straight at the camera or 'posing'. Try taking photos of your subject working or playing or just relaxing.
  • Finish on a good note, so that next time they are happy to be photographed again and not be scared off by the experience!

How to send your photos
You can choose any of these 3 options for sending photos:

  1. Email them to cards@inkpinkdesign.com.au - please ensure you include your name and order details on the email

  2. Post a disk to InkPink Design, 2 Sheridan Ave, Mooroolbark, 3138

  3. Post your original photos to InkPink Design, 2 Sheridan Ave, Mooroolbark, 3138 and we will scan them for you free of charge

Emailing Photographs
Emailing your photographs to cards@inkpinkdesign.com.au is the fastest and simplest option for getting your photos to us.

When emailing your photographs to us, please keep the total combined size of your photos to less than 5 megabytes, or limit it to about 3 or 4 photos per email. You can send them in several emails if you have more than this amount. The reason for this is that most internet service providers (ISP) have a maximum size limit for sending and receiving emails and if you exceed this limit then the email will not go through and you will receive an error message from your ISP.

Tips for taking & sending photos
We ask that you provide high-resolution files, usually 300dpi, or the highest quality photo that your digital camera will take. Please do not crop or resize your photos before emailing them, as we will provide this service for you.
If your photo quality is too low, or the files are damaged in any way we will contact you and ask for a replacement photo.

Photo Retouching
Included free of charge is some basic photo retouching. We will remove any red eye or obvious marks, blemishes etc on your photos.  We will also optimise your photograph’s brightness and colour.  If you have any special requests for photo retouching, please let me know and we will endeavour to help. There may be a small fee should the photo retouching involve any major work.

Professional Photographs
InkPink Design is happy to work with any professional photos you may have, however, the use of these photographs must be under the agreement of the copyright holder.

In most cases, if you have purchased your professional photos on a CD, then you will own the copyright and can freely reproduce the photos, please check this with your photographer. However, if you have purchased the prints only, then you will need to ask your photographer for a signed copyright release form before you can reproduce them in any way.

Colour Differences from Screen to Print
Some slight colour variations may occur between what you see on your screen and the final printed product. This is due to different computer monitor settings (every one’s monitor is slightly different) and printer calibration variances.  We print with only professional lab equipment onto archive quality photo paper in order to reproduce as close as possible, the colours that you see on your screen during the approval process.
